Watercooler Chat: Normal week, Patriots unbeatable, Miami beatable and Indy squeeks a win

Week 11 was a rather normal week -- meaning that nothing super-special happened. Everything (aside from the Steelers overtime loss to the terrible Jets) played out as expected. Indy won, New England destroyed, Miami lost, Washington was boring to watch -- all things normal. But, there were some notable events:

In the Indianapolis/Kansas City, Adam Vinatieri missed his 4th Field Goal in a row (going back to that shank in the San Diego game last week). This is the most clutch kicker in NFL History, winning more than 8 important games with a field goal (including the 2001 Super Bowl that established the Patriots as a dynasty). However... the home fans booed him. That's pretty intense. Can you imagine if this happened at your job?! Your doing an amazing job, and then you screw up a little, and people boo you and want you replaced. Wait a minute, that's how the world works -- never mind. (Indianapolis 13, Kansas City 10)

Over in Houston, the Mario Williams/Reggie Bush 2006 #1 Pick Debate was to be settled. To refresh your memory, Reggie was poised to be the #1 pick for months, and then, LITERALLY, at the last second, the Texans selected Defensive Back Mario Williams, shocking the Houston fans. Bush selected by the New Orleans Saints. However, 1.5 years have passed, and now people can't decide who got a better deal. Well, it was settled yesterday. The verdict: Neither team got any better. And here's something else that's fascinating. Andre Johnson, the Texans star WR, made his triumphant return from an injury suffered in Week 3. And he finished the day with 120 yards and a TD. If you've ever watched Andre Johnson play, when he catches touchdown passes, they are always downfield bombs, and he's always WIDE OPEN. It's like they don't cover him, and the announcers never say anything about it. I just find this... weird. Here, take a look, see for yourself. It's at the 50 second mark in this highlight reel. Don't worry, you can fast forward (Houston 23, New Orleans 10)

Terrell Owens (Cowboys) is having an amazing season. I always thought he was a little overrated, but now he's finally acting like a superstar. With four touchdowns this weekend against the Redskins, Owens is helping his team to a record of 9-1. (Cowboys 28, Redskins 23)

Can you name 4 players on the Jaguars yet? Anyone? Hello...

And to report more of the 'usual' -- New England annihilated the Buffalo Bills on NBC Sunday Night Football. It was a massacre. But here's the interesting thing -- NBC has now entered their 'flex-programming', meaning they have the right to move the most exciting match-up of the week to Sunday Night Football. This right is for the benefit of the NFL in such that the game with the most drama on the line (i.e. teams with good records facing off, or a game with playoff implications) are featured on prime time. However, NBC seems to be using this to simply feature the New England Patriots because they know their superior play will draw ratings. Guess what, they're right. And they are making no attempt to hide this (such as: taking a week off from the Pats). Nope, next week is Pats/Eagles. They're marketing this as a rematch of Super Bowl XXXIX. Whatever. They just want to feature the Patriots, and will advertise the game by saying anything but that. I can already see the promos for Week 13: "Can Tom Brady and the Pats stay undefeated against what was once a good Baltimore defense???!!!!" (New England 56, Buffalo 10)
