Watercooler Chat: Colts, Pats, Cowboys, Packers looking good

By all accounts, the Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens matchup last night was not a nail biter (Colts 44, Ravens 20), but I needed a monster game out of Peyton Manning in order to get to the next round of playoffs in my fantasy football league. Going into Sunday night's game, I needed about 4 touchdowns from Manning with good yardage and low and behold, he came through....for me. Thanks Peyton!

An important Week 14. The Pats undefeated season was on the line against the 'favorite' to beat them -- Pittsburgh. The Dolphins 'Worst Record of All Time' was on the line against the 'favorite' whom they might beat -- Buffalo. Neither opponent prevailed, and both the Pats and Dolphins still have 0's in their records. (New England 34, Pittsburgh 13) (Buffalo 38, Miami 17) Patriots are 13-0 for the season and the Dolphins are 0-13.

The Dallas Cowboys didn't look themselves at all this week, trailing an injured Detroit Lions throughout the entire game. And Detroit was out with their (supposed) star WR, Roy Williams. But, on a game winning drive, the Cowboys prevailed, beating a Lions team everybody knew would choke in the end. Was this a surprise? Really? (Dallas 28, Detroit 27)

The Seattle Seahawks clinched the AFC West, easily the worst division in professional sports. This is no accomplishment. None whatsoever. However, it will be fun to watch them play a first round game against the extremely exciting NFL underdog -- The Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings will be America's team come January, you just watch. (Seattle 42, Arizona 21)

The Green Bay Packers also clinched their division, and Brett Favre started his 250th NFL game. This is insane considering how easy it is for QBs to get injured. They lost to Dallas last week, but these guys are still a great team, and could definitely make the Super Bowl. Plus, they finally found a running game in Ryan Grant. This really helps. Seriously, they could beat Dallas. (Green Bay 38, Oakland 7)

Come to think of it -- there have been 4 Ultimate Showdowns this year (meaning games that were EXTREMELY hyped up).

Pats v. Colts
Pats v. Cowboys
Cowboys v. Packers
Pats v. Steelers

But, you have to admit, the most watched game of the year will be in Week 17 when the Bengals travel to Miami to take on the Dolphins. This will be the Dolphins last chance to not go down as the 'Worst Team in History', and they are playing at home. How can you not be excited for THAT Ultimate Showdown.

Watercooler Discussion: Would you rather see the Pats have the first 16-0 season or the Dolphins have the first 0-16 season?

I officially found some pride in the Miami Dolphins today for their commendable effort against the Ravens to bring them their first victory, in overtime no less. However, as a Pats fan, I can only say that my pride in the Dolphins' performance certainly does not override my hope that they will continue to fall flat in week 16, bringing the Pats to a 15-0 record, with the hope that the Giants will also go down on December 30th.
