Watercooler Chat: Fantasy Football Disaster
If you're into fantasy football, then Week 15 is most likely Round 1 of your playoffs. And, most likely, two of the teams in your league are helmed by Tom Brady and Tony Romo, fantasy juggernauts this year (averaging around 30 fantasy points a game -- insane!!) Well... they both put up such bad performances yesterday, they could have singlehandedly destroyed their fantasy managers championship hopes. And that's... really really... really really really frustrating....for Me (as I had Marion Barber and Patrick Clayton, Cowboys RB and WR ). At least Brady won his game, while Romo and the Cowboys were upset by the (as many online headlines read) 'High-Flyin' Eagles'. (Philadelphia 10, Dallas 6) (New England 20, NY Jets 10).
Brett Favre broke ANOTHER record yesterday -- surpassing Dan Marino in 'all-time passing yardage'. How many more records can he break this year?! He's on fire, and you just want him to go out on top so bad. Breaking every record, adored by his former neysayers, maybe even winning the Super Bowl. Unlikely, but Favre really is the "Man". (Green Bay 33, St. Louis 14)
Hey Hey -- the Miami Dolphins FINALLY WON, beating the (almost beat the Patriots????????) Baltimore Ravens in overtime. This is a real bummer. It's fun to watch a winless team, because you truly feel sorry for them. They're the ultimate underdog every single game. But one win? Everybody's seen one win before? One win makes you wanna change the channel. One win doesn't go down in history. One win is totally unlikable. One win is nothing to be proud of. You can take pride in being the first winless team ever. Now that was something special. (Miami 22, Baltimore 16)
And SNOW!!! Man, there is nothing better than watching snow games on TV. So aesthetically pleasing. It feels like you're watching a classic game from 10 years ago, even though it's LIVE!! You could say... it puts you in the holiday spirit. Cleveland won a slow, but truly exciting game on a blanketed, white field. And the Jaguars edged the Steelers on disgustingly muddy terrain. Neat stuff. And for some reason, your house feels more cozy when watching a 'snow game'. If they use snow machines on ski slopes so people can have more fun, why can't they use them on all football fields in December, so viewers can experience and embrace that homey holiday feeling. Nothing beats a log on the fire (or the heat up), cuddling up with kids, friends or family and just enjoying the holiday cheer with a 'snow game' in the back ground. It's truly delightful....particularly if your fantasy football team is doing well (as mine clearly was not). So, as my fantasy football teammate David wrote last night, "the fat lady was singing loudly" and unless our Vikings Defense scores 40 some-odd points Monday night, we're cooked, done, audios for the season.
Watercooler Chat: Did Jessica Simpson (who was Tony Romo's guest at the game on Sunday) cause him to play so poorly?
