Watercooler Chat: Playoff Picture Set

First things first -- the Patriots officially completed an undefeated season. The New York Giants didn't make it easy, however, even going up by 10 points in the 2nd half. But the Pats returned to 'we-do-what-we-wanna-do' form, and, well, started to dominate. The best highlight of the game: Tom Brady threw a slightly imprecise downfield bomb to Randy Moss, and.. Randy dropped it. So, how did Tom Brady recover, he ran the EXACT SAME PLAY AGAIN, launching it 50 yards downfield to Moss. And this time, Moss caught it, and ran for the touchdown. But it wasn't just any touchdown. It was the go-ahead touchdown for Tom Brady to gain sole ownership of the single season TD record (50), previously held by Peyton Manning (49). The Pats did what no other team has done before, finish 16-0, but in order for them to be considered 'The Greatest Team Ever', they must WIN the Super Bowl. It's absolutely vital for their legendary status. And since they've come this far, anything short of winning the Super Bowl would be considered a MAJOR UPSET. The pressure is ON. (New England 38, NY Giants 35)

And the playoff picture is set. The AFC byes: New England (go figure) and Indianapolis. The NFC byes: Dallas and Green Bay.

And the Wild Card Match-ups are as follows:

In the NFC:

Washington Redskins v. Seattle Seahawks
The Redskins won the last Wild Card spot, beating out the ferocious Minnesota Viking running-attack. And this game really has upset potential. The Redskins are a new team with Todd Collins at QB. They can actually pass! Who knew? Watch out Seahawks.

NY Giants v. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This could potentially be a very boring game. Not that it won't be close, but does anybody really want to watch this? It could really go either way, but just about everybody is sure that the winner of this game will lose in the second round.

In the AFC:

Jacksonville Jaguars v. Pittsburgh Steelers
This is a very interesting game, considering it will eliminate one of the two teams that could potentially defeat the Patriots. Jacksonville is a solid team, one that relies on the run, but can pass if they really need to. The Steelers started off the season strong, but now they are without star running back Willie Parker. This game could go either way, but the Jaguars have serious potential to go deep in the playoffs. An upset of the Colts in Round 2 by either one of these teams is very probable.

Tennessee Titans v. San Diego Chargers
This is a bummer. The Titans are a lame team, and just about everybody outside of Tennessee was rooting for the Cleveland Browns to make the playoffs. They were the ultimate underdog, armed with an offense that can absolutely destroy you if they're on that day. Rooting for the Titans is just dull. They are a slow team that started the season strong (6-2), but have been an extremely average team as of late -- always boring when entering the playoffs. People want to see teams like the 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers, the guys who rallied to make the playoffs, then dominated because they were playing so well together. You don't have that element with the Titans, and they only got into the playoffs because the Colts rested all their starters, thus handing the Titans the easy win they needed. Bummer!

But, you still have to be excited for the next weekend. There's nothing better than the NFL playoffs.

Ive had a hole in one, now my team for the year is undefeated, if I go 19/0 and win the super bowl I can now go to the big one in the sky, It won't get no better than that.
